Deepa Kumar is Assistant Professor of Media Studies at Rutgers University. Her courses at Rutgers explore the limitations of corporate media, and the marginalization of dissenting voices. She is a regular on the lecture circuit, and has written a number of articles and essays on a variety of subjects, from Islamophobia and the media to the role of class in today’s society.
She published her first book, Outside the Box: Corporate Media, Globalization, and the UPS Strike, in 2008. She is currently working on her second book, which analyzes the effects of the U.S. media on the Middle East.
