Jean Twenge

Teen Psychology researcher, professor, lecturer

Jean Twenge is Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at San Diego State University. Her extensive research into social rejection and generational differences in personality and life outlook led to her 2006 critically acclaimed book, Generation Me – Why Today’s Young Americans Are More Confident, Assertive, Entitled – and More Miserable Than Ever Before.

Her first book, Generation Me draws on data from 1.3 million young people about self-esteem, individualism, anxiety and sexuality. Twenge combines the stories of young people with an examination of popular culture's formative effects on youth culture.
